The avatars layout

Up to twelve photographs overlapping in a row, with the number of testimonials beside them. Each face carries the name of the person who wrote it, so hovering says who they are — and somebody who wrote without giving a name carries none, because an empty tooltip is worse than no tooltip. Somebody who wrote to you without a photograph appears as their initials, never as a stock face — and with photographs turned off, every face in the row is drawn that way. The count is of every testimonial the widget was given, not of the faces it had room for: narrowing the widget with a limit, featured only, video only or a minimum rating changes which faces are shown and never changes the number counted. What it counts is testimonials, and the line it draws says so — "12 testimonials have been written about Acme" — because two testimonials from one customer are two testimonials and nothing here can tell one writer from another. No rating is drawn here: a score belongs beside the figure it was worked out from, which is what the rating badge and the rating line are for.

Live — the widget script itself, not a picture of it.

Putting it on your page

One tag. The layout is a query string, so changing your mind later does not mean touching the page again.

The tag for this layout
<script src="https://hazelsong.com/widget/YOUR-SLUG.js?template=avatars" async></script>
<div id="hazelsong-wall"></div>

Your own slug is in your dashboard, with the tag ready to copy. Works on WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace, Framer, Wix, or a file you wrote by hand — see where the tag goes on each one. Add &theme=dark for a dark page, or &tag=onboarding to show only the testimonials you gave that label — the label is one you added in your dashboard, and the narrowing is done on the server, so the page never receives the rest.
